It is an affirmation of commitment and belief.


Confirmation / Reception generally happens once a year after Easter.  It happens with the laying on of hands by the bishop and the anointing with holy oil (chrism) is the outward sign of Confirmation.

How Confirmation Works

Confirmation happens in church after Easter.  There is a time of preparation, testing and confession, and acceptance of catechism of the church.   You can be confirmed as early as age 12-14 or as an adult.
